कल, रविवार, 08 अक्टूबर को चेन्नई के एमए चिदंबरम स्टेडियम में खेले गए मैच में भारतीय टीम का सामना ऑस्ट्रेलिया से हुआ। भारत ने अपने आईसीसी क्रिकेट विश्व कप 2023 अभियान की शुरुआत जीत के साथ की और ऑस्ट्रेलिया को अपने पहले मैच में छह विकेट से हरा दिया।

इस बीच एक मामूली से दिख रहे लक्ष्य का पीछा करने उतरी भारतीय टीम ने शुरुआती ओवरों में अपने तीन प्रमुख बल्लेबाजों को मात्र 2 रन के स्कोर पर गँवा दिया, जहाँ ईशान किशन, रोहित शर्मा और श्रेयस अय्यर शून्य पर आउट हुए। ऐसे में संकट की परिस्थिति में दिख रही भारतीय टीम को विराट कोहली और केएल राहुल ने संकट से निकाला और 212 गेंदों पर 165 रनों की एक शानदार साझेदारी की।
विराट कोहली ने अपनी पारी में छह चौके लगाते हुए 116 गेंदों पर 85 रन की पारी खेली। हालाँकि, वह अपने शतक से चूक गए और आउट होकर वापस लौट गए। हालाँकि, उनके जोड़ीदार साथी केएल राहुल ने आठ चौकों और दो छक्कों की मदद से 97* (115) रनों की शानदार नाबाद पारी खेली और भारत को जीत तक पहुँचाया। उन्होंने भारतीय पारी का समापन एक शानदार छक्के के साथ किया।
