महान भारतीय महिला राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट टीम की बल्लेबाज और कप्तान मिताली राज ने क्रिकेट के सभी प्रारूपों से संन्यास की घोषणा की है। भारतीय क्रिकेट आइकन ने सितंबर 2019 में खेल के छोटे प्रारूप से पहले ही संन्यास ले लिया था। मिताली ने भारत की महिला राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट टीम के लिए 232 एकदिवसीय, 12 टेस्ट और 89 T20I खेले और एकदिवसीय मैचों में 50.7 की औसत से 7805 रन बनाए, टेस्ट में 43.68 की औसत से 699 रन और T20I में 37.52 की औसत से 2364 रन बनाए।
मिताली राज महिला अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट के इतिहास में सबसे अधिक रन बनाने वाली खिलाड़ी हैं और उन्हें अर्जुन, पद्म श्री और खेल रत्न पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। मिताली राज के नाम महिला क्रिकेट में भी कई रिकॉर्ड हैं क्योंकि वह महिला एकदिवसीय मैचों में सबसे अधिक रन बनाने वाली खिलाड़ी हैं और वह अधिकांश महिला वनडे में भाग लेने वाली खिलाड़ी हैं। इसके अलावा, वह महिला एकदिवसीय मैचों में एक कप्तान के रूप में सर्वाधिक जीत का रिकॉर्ड रखती हैं और वह महिला एकदिवसीय मैचों में भारत के लिए सर्वाधिक शतक बनाने वाली खिलाड़ी भी हैं।
39 वर्षीय ने बुधवार, 8 जून को अपने संन्यास की घोषणा करने के लिए ट्विटर का सहारा लिया। उन्होंने कहा कि उच्चतम स्तर पर भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व करना उनके लिए सम्मान की बात है और उन्होंने कहा कि वह अपने संन्यास के बाद भी खेल में शामिल रहेंगी और दुनिया भर में महिला क्रिकेट के विकास में योगदान देंगी।
“मैं एक छोटी लड़की के रूप में इंडिया ब्लूज़ पहनने की यात्रा पर निकली क्योंकि आपके देश का प्रतिनिधित्व करना सर्वोच्च सम्मान है। यात्रा ऊंचाइयों और कुछ चढ़ावों से भरी थी। प्रत्येक घटना ने मुझे कुछ अनोखा सिखाया और पिछले 23 वर्ष मेरे जीवन के सबसे अधिक पूर्ण, चुनौतीपूर्ण और आनंददायक वर्ष रहे हैं।”

“इतने सालों तक टीम का नेतृत्व करना सम्मान की बात थी। इसने मुझे निश्चित रूप से एक व्यक्ति के रूप में आकार दिया और उम्मीद है कि भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट को भी आकार देने में मदद मिलेगी। यह यात्रा भले ही समाप्त हो गई हो, लेकिन एक और संकेत मिलता है क्योंकि मैं उस खेल में शामिल रहना पसंद करूंगी जिससे मैं प्यार करती हूं और भारत और दुनिया भर में महिला क्रिकेट के विकास में योगदान करती रहूंगी, ” उन्होंने आगे उल्लेख किया।
